First some background- for a long time now, I've been heading towards a place where I wanted to generate tracks, and then harvest material from those tracks for a Live Jam. This took a lot of learning, practice and yes, plenty of gear. This is my proof of concept. My goal is to do this bi-weekly, where I create a new track, post it, material for it for anyone to remix, and get a jam going off of it.
This track has some unique bits. It features a breakdown in which I took my Volca Kick and changed it's boot setting to 10-600 BPM range, and then using the touch effects, I created some natural FM sounds. The "Click" on the volca kick became one harmonic, the resonant body became another, and so I could change the tone of all of these by manipulating their settings and the tempo. Essentially, I created a 2 operator FM synth where the second operator is a complex waveform. You can hear this section in the breakdown. The inspiration from this came from Bax out the Box, and you can see the video here.
